Congratulations to our leading senior athlete, Sesethu Mtshazi, who has been selected for the Springboks Women’s squad to play Scotland in Cape Town.
South Africa’s national rugby side will take on the Northern Hemisphere nation in two Test matches at City Park in Athlone on Monday 30 September and Saturday 5 October.
Sese’s call up comes a week after her first appearance for the national team, coming off the bench against Spain in Port Elizabeth.
She earned her substitute spot having been selected for the South African Women’s Invitational XV that took on their Spanish counterparts on September 14.
Springbok selection follows Blitzboks adventure
Our 21-year-old centre has enjoyed a year of progress as she rises through rugby in 2019.
Appearances for the Lady Blitzboks in several South African tournaments, as well as in friendly fixtures against World Series nation Brazil, came early in the year.
Sese (pictured above, right) also won the Women’s Currie Cup for the second year running with Western Province, having been promoted to the vice-captaincy along the way.
Amid all the rugby, Sese is continuing her academic journey in the second year of her degree course at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
