Connect Sports Academy duo Lukhanyo ‘Boepa’ Vokozela and Lamla Nunu are all set for their clash with Paarl Boys’ High at Cape Town’s Newlands Stadium.
Our pair kick off their final rugby season in the colours of Rondebosch Boys’ High School under the lights in the shadow of Table Mountain at the annual Newlands School Rugby Day.
Kick off is at 19:22 for the 20-minutes each way fixture, which you can watch online right here.
They are then set for a tour of Kwa-Zulu Natal before going on to Namibia to polish off their pre-season preparations. ahead of a trip to Paul Roos to open the school season.
Boepa and Lamla go into their final year in the front row off the back of a groundbreaking 2019.
An SA Schools call-up was hooker Boepa’s reward for a dominant first senior season, as he featured in the International Series against Wales and Argentina.
Selection for SARU elite development camps followed, most recently at the end of February when he spent a week with the national set up in Stellenbosch.
He was earlier joined by prop Lamla at the 2019 Craven Week competition in Bloemfontein, where they both represented Western Province.
The pair have been with Connect Sports Academy since their first steps on to the rugby field as Under 13s.
We’re proud of their progress, as well as that of the rest of our long-term athletes since those formative days – and we look forward to continuing that support as they head towards the professional, adult world in 2020 and beyond.
