Congratulations to Connect Sports Academy athletes Sesethu Mtshazi and Lukhanyo ‘Boepa’ Vokozela, both of whom have received another South African national rugby call-up.
Sese has been selected for the South African Women’s Invitational XV to play against their counterparts from Spain on Saturday 14 September.
The game will take place in Port Elizabeth after Sese has spent a week as part of the Springbok Womens’ training camp ahead of Test matches against Spain and Scotland.
It’s a selection that continues Sese’s journey in national colours in 2019, after she represented coach Paul Delport’s Lady Blitzboks sevens side earlier in the year.
Our 21-year-old is making her mark on the senior SA squads alongside the second year of her degree course at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
She will join up with her South African team-mates after playing in the final of the 2019 Currie Cup with Western Province.
They take on Border at City Park in Athlone, Cape Town on Saturday 7 September, with kick off at 15:00.
Boepa build on SA Schools success
Like Sese, Lukhanyo ‘Boepa’ Vokozela has been with our academy since the start of his rugby journey.
He will finish his 2019 season as part of the SARU Under 17 Elite Player Development Camp.
The selection is just reward for our hooker, who has reached several major landmarks in 2019, his first senior rugby year.
Boepa was part of the SA Schools A side that took on Wales and Argentina in the recent International Series, having featured for winners Western Province at the 2019 Craven Week in Bloemfontein.
He will be in camp for a week later this month, before returning to us for off-season training at our Cape Town home, Burgundy High Performance Centre.
