Connect apprentices represent Union Milnerton RFC

Regular rugby this season for our post-school athletes.

Our first crop of post-school Connect Sports Academy athletes are continuing their journey to the professional adult world at our home, Burgundy High Performance Centre, in Cape Town.

Reno, Lutho, Tsetse, Thaakir, Damian, Mickael and Joshua (all pictured above) are continuing their athletic training while gaining daily work experience and further education and qualifications.

They are also continuing their development as rugby players with Union Milnerton RFC.

Our youngsters are representing the Under 20 side in the Western Province Super League throughout the 2019 season.

They will also play for Connect in our fixtures against touring schools from the United Kingdom as part of our growing partnership with Edwin Doran Sports Tours.

Training twice-weekly at the Theo Marais Sports Complex, our apprentices have already featured against the likes of UCT and Hamilton’s.

Rugby opportunities are vital for our athletes

Tsetse on the charge for UniMil

We’d like to thank Isma-eel Dollie and his team at Union Milnerton for supporting us in our commitment to providing consistent access to quality resources and opportunities for aspiring young professionals in Cape Town.

Isma-eel has already cemented his Friend of Connect status by supporting our athletes and coaches through his role at the South African Rugby Players’ Association.

Their MyPlayers initiative has made two donations to our academy, with Springboks Steven Kitshoff and Makazole Mapimpi digging deep to help our stars of the future fulfill their potential with us, on and off the rugby field.

We’re delighted to be working with Isma-eel and his team to ensure aspiring young athletes don’t fall out of sport in their post-school years.

Help our athletes rise through rugby

We’re always in need of sponsors and donors to support our work in providing consistent access to quality resources and opportunities for young South Africans.

If you or your company can help, we’d love to hear from you so please get in touch.Connect is a registered non-profit company and can issue a Section 18(A) certificate for South African donations.
