Connect featured on the CNN World Rugby Show

We were delighted to welcome the CNN cameras to Cape Town when they featured our high performance athletes on their World Rugby Show.

The global news network sat down for a chat with some of our leading senior athletes.


April 2014

Connect began holding coaching clinics for the local township community, before taking part in its first competition: the Spur Mini Rugby Day.

October 2014

Regular mass-participation training sessions in a public space for township children, entering local touch rugby tournaments.

June 2015

Taking part in our first regular contact rugby fixtures with our young athletes.

February 2016

Connect voted Winners of the Sport Industry Group Development Programme of The Year.

March 2016

Formal relationship begins with Vusa Academy to provide playing, training and learning opportunities for primary school children.

September 2016

Akha Mjawule and Ilitha Ntinini become our first two provincial rugby representatives with Western Province at Under 12 level.

October 2017

Our first four national rugby champions! Akha & Ilitha win the U13 rugby sevens while Lukhanyo Vokozela & Lamla Nunu win U15 Iqhawe Week.

January 2018

First group of Connect's athletes begin scholarships at several leading local high schools in Cape Town.

March 2018

Connect moves to its own High Performance Centre in Cape Town, starting the next phase of our athletes' journey into the professional world.

July 2018

Our first capped athletes take part in Grant Khomo Week and Academy Week, with Western Province and the South Africa LSEN team.
