Here’s your chance to join some of South Africa’s leading companies in impacting directly on the life of a star of the future in our high performance academy.
Your annual commitment will cover the essential costs involved in an athlete’s development with Connect; including their training, academic support, transport, nutrition and equipment.
Children and their families from more privileged backgrounds can afford to take many of these things for granted.
For the youngsters in Connect, however, your support is vital to them realising their full potential, on and off the rugby field.
Our existing sponsors include Bowmans, Africa’s leading law firm, who sponsor our Western Province-capped, national rugby sevens champion Ilitha Ntinini.
One of our SACS high school scholarship recipients Aya Machuli, meanwhile, is backed by the Daily Maverick, South Africa’s leading independent news publication.
You don’t have to stop at one member of Connect, either.
Timbercity’s Woodstock branch in Cape Town are supporting three of our high performance athletes: Rondebosch Boys’ High School scholarship recipients Lukhanyo Vokozela and Lamla Nunu, as well as Lutho Dyalvane.
It’s also absolutely fine if you’re an individual, family or simply don’t want any public recognition for your vital contribution. We have athletes sponsored privately as well.
Beyond the monetary benefit to our academy and its participants, we feel that offering a potentially long-term human connection with one of our young people is a fantastic opportunity to grow mutual understanding and respect.
What We Offer You
By sponsoring an athlete, you will immediately be associated with the South African Sport Industry Group’s Development Programme of The Year for 2016.
Connect’s growing profile has seen our academy featured by global media outlets including CNN, the BBC and AFP.
You or your company will be featured in an article on our website, as well as to our audience of thousands on our social media channels, to announce your sponsorship.
As part of our relationship with the Daily Maverick, we also offer advertising for you or your company on their platforms with the value to match your donation. Please request further details if this opportunity is for you.
Far more exciting than all of that is the connection you will make with one of our fantastic young people.
You also have the opportunity to play a part in their journey towards being a professional, rounded member of society as an adult.
We encourage our sponsors to meet the athletes they support. You are also more than welcome to come to watch them training or playing and cheer them on!
Connect can provide details of fixtures, as well as more general updates on your athlete’s progress, on an ongoing basis to suit each sponsor.
What It Costs
Your annual sponsorship costs R15 000. This can be paid up front or in instalments throughout the arrangement, with sponsorships able to begin at any point in the calendar year.
Connect is a registered non-profit company and we can provide a Section 18(A) certificate where applicable.
While the sponsorship figure guarantees support for your selected athlete/s, it is impossible to forecast the exact costs and requirements for each recipient over a 12-month period.
As such, we commit to funding the essential requirements of our other athletes with any surplus funds during this period, as appropriate.
All money will go to providing access to resources and opportunities for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, in accordance with Connect’s NPC status.
Given the complex environment in which we work, there may be occasions where athlete sponsorship is transferred.
If this is the case, the academy will communicate this with you to explain any action.
