Our high performance athletes were inspired by 147 international rugby caps when they met Jason Leonard and Paul Rendall at training last weekend.
The English internationals joined us in Green Point Park for the end of our session.
And it made over two hours of hard work more than worth it for our youngsters.
Our pair of Under 16 front row forwards Boepa and Lamla couldn’t wait to pick up some top tips from the duo.
We couldn’t possibly comment on rumours that they learned all about the dark arts of the scrum from Leonard.
But you would listen to a guy who won the Rugby World Cup with England in Australia in 2003, wouldn’t you?
Season is coming… and our athletes are ready
Our athletes are coming together on a weekend for group training sessions as we head deep into pre-season in South Africa.
We’re delighted that eight of our players are now on scholarships at leading schools in Cape Town.
Another, Sese Mtshazi, has also begun her sports management course at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
So it was fitting that two guys from the top of the sport could share their experience of high performance and what it takes to be a professional.
With consistent access to quality resources and opportunities, we believe our athletes should be encouraged to aim just as high in their ambitions, on and off the sports field.
A big thank you to Jason and Paul for being so generous with their time.
There may even be one or two more England supporters in our ranks as a result!
