Congratulations to our athlete Aya Machuli, who has joined our ranks of sponsored players, all thanks to the Daily Maverick.
South Africa’s leading independent news site has agreed to support Aya throughout the next year as part of our player sponsorship scheme.
Sponsor a Connect athlete for R15k per year
We have plenty more athletes that need your support. Contact us today to see how you or your business could help us change the life of an aspiring South African sports star.
Aya has been one of our most consistent youngsters since being part of Connect’s early days of touch rugby and mass participation sessions in Khayelitsha three years ago.
A full scholarship to SACS school in Cape Town for 2018 is the result of Aya’s sporting prowess, commitment and desire to improve.
He starts at SACS alongside Akha Mjawule, who received a sponsorship of his own last month, in January.
Aya reached the final round of Western Province rugby trials this year and in 2016, playing as an outside centre.
He is known within Connect as the ultimate team man – while also catching the eye with his, power, strike running and tackling that belies his size.
We can’t wait to follow his progress at SACS and share the journey with you, too. And the support of both sponsors will ensure that Connect can continue to provide everything that both boys need in order to fulfil their potential, on and off the rugby field.
DM join Bowmans & Timbercity in athlete sponsorship
Three of our senior athletes – Lukhanyo Vokozela, Lamla Nunu and Lutho Dyalvane – are also sponsored by Timbercity’s Woodstock branch in Cape Town.
Aya’s team-mate Ilitha ‘Mister’ Ntinini is also sponsored by leading African law firm Bowmans, as the list of South Africans supporting our youngsters continues to grow.
Welcome aboard, DM!
