Akha Mjawule becomes Connect’s latest sponsored athlete!

Congratulations to our Western Province-capped, national sevens champion Akha Mjawule, who is the latest youngster to benefit from our player sponsorship programme.

Akha – who starts life at SACS high school in Cape Town in January – has been sponsored by a mystery donor who wishes to remain anonymous. For the R15,000 annual contribution to Akha’s participation in our programme, we’re more than happy to accommodate that request!

Last month Akha returned from Bloemfontein alongside fellow Connect athlete Ilitha ‘Mister’ Ntinini (pictured together, below) as our first South African champions, with Mister already sponsored by leading African law firm, Bowmans.

They were followed a week later by our third and fourth SA champs as Lukhanyo ‘Boepa’ Vokozela and Lamla Nunu (sponsored by Timbercity’s Woodstock branch) were part of the Iqhawe Week-winning Western Province Under 15 side.

Although Akha will attend SACS on a full scholarship, this donation will cover the cost of everything from additional equipment and clothing, to representative tour costs and the training with Connect that Akha will continue to do.

As with all of our individual sponsors, any surplus funds are dispersed throughout the programme to give our other athletes the support that they also need in order to thrive.

There’s never been a better time to help our young people to reach their full potential. If you or your business would like to do just that, we’d love to hear from you.

We’d love for you to sponsor one of our high performance athletes, or make a direct donation to support the work that we do.
