Akha Mjawule and Aya Machuli accepted on SACS scholarships!

Huge congratulations to our junior high performance athletes Akha Mjawule and Aya Machuli, who have been accepted on scholarships for SACS high school, starting in 2018!

Our Under 13 pair will begin life as boarders at the prestigious Cape Town school in January, in what is a huge boost to both their rugby and their academics. Aya has been awarded the Buntu Majalaza scholarship, while Aya has been picked out for a Headmaster’s scholarship.

Akha has represented Western Province rugby as a flanker-turned-scrum-half (yes, really!) at U12 and U13, while centre Aya reached the final Craven Week trials in Worcester earlier this year.

Both are playing their rugby at Busy Bee RFC in Langa this season alongside our other junior athletes, as part of our partnership with Vusa Academy, the Bishops Prep School initiative.

All of us at Connect are proud of how far Akha and Aya have come so far. We’ll be with them every step of the way at SACS as part of our commitment to see them through to matriculation and beyond.

In further good news, Siviwe Kewana, who came through the Vusa programme in 2016, has also been given a scholarship at the school. We’ll be on hand to support his development through high school as well.

Well done boys, we’re proud of you all!

We’d love for you to sponsor one of our high performance athletes, or make a direct donation to support the work that we do.
