Akha & Mister: Champions of SA with Western Province U13s!

Congratulations to our athletes Akha Mjawule and Ilitha ‘Mister’ Ntinini (pictured front row, centre) who have become Connect Sports Academy’s first national champions!

The pair were part of the Western Province Under 13 7s squad that won last weekend’s inter-provincial tournament in Bloemfontein.

WP saw off the Lions 29-10 in Saturday’s final, following a 26-12 win over the Blue Bulls in the semi-finals.

They had earlier secured a 24-12 comeback victory over the Limpopo Blue Bulls in the quarters after beating Border, Lions and Griffons in the group stage.

As for our boys? Three tries for Akha (and a turnover… he’s very proud of that) and three assists for Mister. Not bad going for two kids who had never touched a rugby ball three years ago.

Connect also has two athletes, Lukhanyo ‘Boepa’ Vokozela and Lamla Nunu, in action for Western Province at the U15 Iqhawe Week in Johannesburg.

We’re thankful to Bowmans law firm for supporting Mister’s progress over the last year through our player sponsorship programme. If you want to help a young athlete realise their potential, get in touch now!

Akha and Mister return from their third Western Province tour as role models for their academy mates and we’re very proud of them both.

With rugby season over, it’s now time for them both to hit their schools books, with Akha starting life at SACS high school in Cape Town in January.

We’d love for you to sponsor one of our high performance athletes, or make a direct donation to support the work that we do.
