    Co-founder and Director of Rugby

    Murray has been working at the cutting edge of fitness and mobility for nearly 20 years. He is a practising strength and conditioning guru with a background in working with top athletes. He co-ordinates the development of our elite athletes and takes time off only to complain about his home-town team, the Sharks.



  • Fundile Badi

    Fundile Badi   

    Fundile’s primary role sees him leading the programme for our junior elite athletes, while also working on recruitment, scouting and relationships with schools in Khayelitsha and the surrounding area. He also assists with coaching the Western Province hub sides, Vusa Academy and runs private coaching sessions.

  • Aviwe Apolisi

    Aviwe Apolisi 

    Aviwe works chiefly in the Khayelitsha community, leading tutoring sessions for primary school athletes and new recruits. He also works with our elite athletes across the age range and assists with coaching the Western Province hub sides and Vusa Academy while managing community and school relationships.

    Yanga Qinga  

    Yanga takes care of administrative duties in Cape Town, including coordinating logistics between our offices in the city and in Khayelitsha.

    Vuvu Cishe  

    Vuvu works primarily on the Khayelitsha side of Connect’s operations – managing logistics, our boarding house and liaising with our partners and coaches.

    Jessica Alberts   

    Jess keeps a handle on the Connect cash stash, while providing administrative oversight. She combines this with managing the iCafe – partners of Connect and a skills incubator, at the Cape Town Science Centre.

  • Max Benson

    Max Benson  

    Max works on Connect’s media and social media presence, building relationships with our partners, assisting in the day-to-day running of the academy as well as long-term aspects of athlete management.

    Antoinette Muller  

    Ant is a freelance journalist, most prominently with the Daily Maverick, and takes charge of getting the Connect message out into the big wide world. Want to change a kid’s life for the better? Give her a shout.
